Richard joined TSRC in March 2019 while pursuing his Master's in Urban Planning at San Jose State University. His research topics and interests include the development of smart cities as a concept for sustainable urbanization and the emergence of dockless vehicles. Prior to joining TSRC, he worked as a writer in Los Angeles. He is quoted as an expert in writing for cinematic virtual reality in the textbook Virtual Reality Filmmaking: Techniques & Best Practices for VR Filmmakers (Routledge) by Celine Tricart. He received his B.A. in Screenwriting with a minor in Computer Science at Loyola Marymount University in 2012. He was inspired to study urban planning after reading the works of Christopher Alexander, Professor Emeritus of Architecture at UC Berkeley. Richard grew up in the South Bay Area.
