Dong Phuong Tran is a research scholar at Transportation Sustainability Research Center (TSRC) at U.C. Berkeley. His current research interests include electric vehicle policy, energy transition, and transportation safety. He has been employed by the Vietnamese Government for over 30 years with the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment, and PetroVietnam. Dong's main tasks are to conduct environmental and social impact assessments for energy development projects such as hydropower, coal thermal power plants, and offshore oil and gas exploitation. He holds bachelor degree of Geography from Hanoi University (1984), Master of Marine Science from University of New South Wales (1996), and PhD of Environmental Science from University of Sydney (2005). The PhD thesis was focused on a decision making methodology- Analytic Hierarchy Process- for sustainable seaport development planning.
